Services
Structured Literacy Intervention
Ages: preschool to 3rd grade
Dr. Truong provides evidence-based intervention grounded in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to learning to read, spell, and write. Sessions are tailored to each child's needs based on diagnostic assessment and individualized goals. Intervention may focus on phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, handwriting and writing. Lessons are explicit, systematic, and cumulative - meaning they move from simple skills to more complex and incorporate new learning with a review of previously taught skills. Interactive games and multisensory activities promote motivation in a developmentally appropriate way. Frequent progress monitoring helps to target specific skill sets each week. Sessions typically occur 1 - 3 times per week, based on individual needs, and last 1-hour. An initial data profile and progress reports are provided at no extra cost.

Educational Therapy
Ages: preschool to 5th grade
Educational therapy helps children with learning differences improve barriers they may have that impact their success in school. While every child's challenges differ, frequently educational therapy sessions address:
-
social-emotional needs
-
self-concept and self-esteem
-
emotional regulation and control
-
development of executive function skills
-
behaviors affecting learning
-
strategies to improve focus
Lessons are explicit, systematic, and empower children with skill sets they can apply to school, home, or social situations. Skills develop through a series of organized games and activities. Please note, sessions are NOT talk therapy. Sessions typically occur once per week for 1-hour. It is often recommended that educational therapy coincides with parent education/coaching services to achieve the greatest impact and results.

Educational Assessment
Ages: 18 months to 5th grade
Dr. Truong offers fully customized, comprehensive educational assessment services and screening for young children. In particular, she specializes in early literacy screening, literacy evaluation, academic achievement, assessment of preschool skill sets and readiness for kindergarten, and developmental screening. Results of the testing are summarized in an in-depth report and in-person meeting. The written report outlines data results, complete with an interpretation, recommendations for next steps, possible school accommodations, and a customized plan of intervention (if necessary). In some cases, additional testing by a psychologist or speech/language pathologist may be recommended. The evaluation process may also include a review of academic records, developmental history, prior evaluations, parent feedback/interview, classroom observation, and review of current IEP. Results are intended to provide parents with recommendations and to help them understand their child's strengths as well as identify areas that may benefit from support or additional referral; they are not intended to provide a diagnosis.
